About HomeReno Cost
HomeReno Cost builds free home-improvement cost calculators that show their work. Most cost tools hand you a single number from an opaque source. We show every line item, cite where the national prices come from, and adjust labor for your region — so you can see how an estimate was built and judge it for yourself.
How we estimate
For each part of a job we multiply a quantity — driven by the size and options you enter — by a national unit cost, then apply a quality-grade factor. A regional labor multiplier, built from government wage statistics, is applied to the labor portion only; materials are priced nationally. We present the result as an itemized low–high range. Each calculator has a methodology page that lists the formula, the unit costs, the labor model, and the sources.
What these numbers are — and aren't
Our figures are derived estimates compiled from public cost aggregators and government wage data. They are not contractor quotes. Real prices vary with project complexity, access, material availability, and local demand. Always confirm with a licensed professional before you budget or sign a contract.
